Yes when I was studying at Box Hill TAFE in Melbourne and then when I was at the Uni of S.A getting my BA for Design : Illustration design, I did quite a bit of Life drawing. When I was also working and living in Sydney some illustrator friends and I did some life drawing clases in Newtown. Havn't done it in a few years now though. Some friends from work here in L.A. did mention it a few months back, so would't mind getting into it again.
BA for Design and Illustration, hey? That's pretty amazing I will study again in 2 years (after my second trip), I think it's important to get industry experience between studying and now I am feeling the urge again I really want to delve deeper into illustration and to be various styles by artists more experienced than I.
Life drawing is always so important, damn full-time work getting in the way >!
My god, I always forget you were from Australia, and that you now live in LA? That's amazing Are you an editorial illustrator? I think you are so amazing
Ha yes. To be honest I did three and a half years worth before a games company in Canberra ( one of the few at the time ) offered me a full time position as lead concept designer. So I took it. That was in 1996. That course was discontinued at the end of that year and the Campus was torn down a few years later. What kind of illustration styles do you want to learn ? Any particular medium? Or do you want to try your hand at everything ? Your pretty damn good with those Faber Castells for sure. I am also extremely impressed that you work with and teach kids. I tried teaching a few kids art classes ,my company in OZ arranged for me and boy it takes a lot of patients.
Yes am from good ol' Oz. A melbourne boy actually although I lived in Sydney for about 5 years. Worked on a Sci-Fi TV series called Farscape and then a concept artist at a games company in Glebe. Also lived in London for 6 years from 2004 - 2009, before coming back to Oz for a year, then over to L.A. in late 2010. So I work for an advertising agency which specializes in Games and film. So essentially I am a concept artist/ digital illustrator/story board artist. My dream is to work as a production illustrator on films Thank you for liking my art so much Katarina..
Honestly, everything you have achieved is everything I could ever dream of achieving in my design/illustrative career
I really would love to learn how to paint traditionally and digitally. I find digital painting quite difficult actually. I think Corel Painter is better than photoshop for digital painting.
I would love to do children's illustration, try some animating, editorial illustration and further my design career. My dream would be to be able to be involved with the Walt Disney Company in some way....haha we all have to dream
Thank you so much for the compliment, that seriously means so much coming from such an accomplished and talented artist like yourself! I am surrounded by crazy/talented people on DA, so to have someone like you be impressed by art makes me feel like I am doing something right
I am so glad you have a dream too It's what makes our journey and destination that much more magical!
Coral Painter is awesome! I try and use it as much as I can. I love the water colour and oil brushes. Usually I use a watercolour base in painter before I take it into PS. I have a few friends here who are animators and wardrobe people at Disney. Infact my company is doing the marketing for the new Avengers game and we are going into the Disney Studio next week. I'll take photos, .. not to show off or anything.. Do you think you will ever try out for Disney, or is it something you wish you could do, but other priorities keep you from doing it ?
Yes I agree a dream is so important, and people like you and me are so blessed to have one. We have god given talents which we have nurtured into skill and continue to share it with people.
