Battle Angel was a painting inspired by Sorayama's "Sexy Robots". But I wanted to experiment with texture such as rusted metal and grit. I had been working on this piece for 4 years off and on and finally finished it in 2004 for the cover of Heavy Metal magazine's Nov issue. She will also appear in Spectrum 12 ,as one of the years best.
I used a mixture of Photoshop and painter I also used a photo reference for her face.

That's so cool. I like how the metal is so shiny, yet so rusty. Nice work on the background an lighting. Details arenice, too,like the little blue lights.

Wow... the best picture I've seen in DA for a while.
Can't think of any criticism... everything seems so perfect with the lense focus and kickass design and all. I also absolutely love the rust effect
